The Škoda Auto Endowment Fund, Solnice, Kvasiny, and the Bělá Microregion Join Forces
Press Release: Representatives of the Škoda Auto Endowment Fund (NFŠA), the city of Solnice, the municipality of Kvasiny, and the Voluntary Association of Municipalities (DSO) of the Bělá Microregion signed a memorandum of cooperation for the period 2026–2028 on Thursday, July 16. This builds on joint projects from previous years and sets priorities for the area’s further development. The cooperation will focus primarily on high-quality public spaces, education, support for community life, and greater resident involvement in the region’s development.
Among the main joint projects is the creation of the U Mohyly Forest Park on the border between Solnice and Kvasiny, which will feature a walking trail, a nature playground, and a new gathering place for residents of both towns. The memorandum also provides for support for the revitalization of the town square in Solnice and the town center in Kvasiny, the development of a multifunctional building with facilities for social services and housing for seniors, and the advancement of innovative education in preschools and elementary schools.
The DSO Mikroregion Bělá will also play an important role. It is thanks to this organization that projects are being created that extend beyond the boundaries of individual municipalities—for example, additional equipment for a shared mobile stage for cultural and community events, or its planned roofing, which will serve all member municipalities of the microregion. Going forward, the collaboration will focus on greater resident involvement in decision-making regarding the development of the places where they live. One of the projects in the works is participatory budgeting, which will allow people to propose small-scale investments themselves that will improve daily life in their neighborhoods.
“Solnice and Kvasiny have been linked to the history and present of Škoda Auto for generations. The tradition of the automotive industry here dates back to the time of F. K. Janeček and continues to significantly influence the development of the entire region to this day. That is precisely why we consider it important to be a long-term partner to local communities. We believe that in places where industry has been developing over the long term, it is equally important to develop public spaces, education, culture, and community life so that these places remain good places to live in the future as well,” says Michal Kadera, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NFŠA.
The signing of the memorandum builds on the existing cooperation among all partners, thanks to which a number of projects have been successfully implemented or prepared in recent years—ranging from the introduction of bike-sharing to urban planning studies for Solnice and Kvasiny, to the conversion of the attic space at the elementary school in Solnice, the revitalization of the park and the construction of a new playground at the castle in Kvasiny, and the construction of a running track. The fund’s cooperation with the region naturally builds on the long-term activities of Škoda Auto, which, in addition to industrial development, has historically supported a number of educational, community, and development projects here.
