What influences a child's development? Far more than we usually think. That was one of the central themes of the Aspen Annual Conference 2026 in Prague, where early childhood was discussed as a strategic investment for society as a whole.
In spring we opened the Tady jsem doma and Kultura má zelenou grants, which bring together culture, community and regional identity. We supported a total of 58 projects that help people create, meet and improve the places where we live and work together.
An open-air gallery has appeared at Pastelka Primary School, with paintings created by a robot following designs from more than 650 local residents. Thanks to the cooperation of the ŠKODA AUTO Endowment Fund with ŠKODA Design, it's clear that the language of design needn't be reserved for cars alone — it can also inspire in the everyday environments where people meet.
In September we kicked off the autumn round of grant programmes. Projects in the Mladá Boleslav, Rychnov and Vrchlabí areas can win support across the spectrum — from innovation in social services and help for carers, through nature and biodiversity protection, to scholarships for secondary school students for international stays. The collaborative robot named Edgar has celebrated his first year at the Krkonoše Grammar School and Secondary Vocational School in Vrchlabí. In December 2023 we acquired him, together with the Hradec Králové Region, as the first sign of our joint memorandum. Edgar is the very first industrial robot in the Czech Republic to make his way into a school of general education.
V neděli 17. listopadu si Česká republika připomněla již 35 let od Sametové revoluce. Ku příležitosti tohoto významného milníku naší historie jsme společně s Post Bellum a městy Mladá Boleslav a Mnichovo Hradiště připravili jedinečnou vzdělávací akci pro žáky základních škol.
Fruit trees are disappearing from the landscape in general. The Krkonoše National Park Administration, our long-standing partner, is working to reverse this trend. Original fruit varieties — those that once grew by every cottage — are gradually being replanted across the Krkonoše landscape. Thanks to the project Návrat starých ovocných odrůd do Krkonoš (The Return of Old Fruit Varieties to the Krkonoše), which we have now supported financially for the second time, more than 50 new fruit trees were added at the end of October.
Why is support so important at the very beginning of the educational process?
This year's festival exceeded all expectations.
We've once again opened our grant call for secondary school students from the Mladá Boleslav, Vrchlabí and Rychnov areas, who can now apply for the fourth time for a contribution towards an international cultural and study stay for the 2025/2026 school year. The application includes a motivation and recommendation letter and a draft project for the sustainable development of the region the student lives in.
